When to come
One house, four seasons
Villa Paula in April isn’t Villa Paula in January, but nothing here closes. The pool is kept clean and open twelve months a year, and the fireplaces, the wood-fired hot tub and the heating work all year round. Pick your moment and see what’s in it.
Spring
Orange blossom out, the Fallas festival, and the first days worth spending in the garden. March, April and May.
Summer
The pool, the vegetable garden and the beach half an hour away. June to September.
Autumn
The mandarin harvest, the brazier in the garden and the wood-fired hot tub. October and November.
Winter

Villa Paula is a house with a private pool for groups, fifteen minutes from Valencia. No reception desk, no strangers, nobody else’s schedule: for the length of the stay, the house and the six and a half hectares around it belong to the group.

How many people does Villa Paula sleep?
Seven to fourteen guests. The house has seven bedrooms and five full bathrooms, and is always rented whole to one group. The usual group is twelve. In two of the rooms the single beds join into a double, so a mixed group of couples and solo travellers fits without negotiating who sleeps where.
Do you rent the whole house or individual rooms?
Always the whole house. No reception desk, no other guests, nobody else’s schedule. For the length of the stay, the house, the pool and the six and a half hectares of orange and mandarin trees around it belong to the group. That privacy is the main reason people choose this house over a hotel.
Where exactly is it, and how far is Valencia?
Five minutes from Valencia airport and fifteen from the city centre. It’s real countryside — seven hectares around it — with the city a quarter of an hour away: dinner at the house on Friday, and the City of Arts and Sciences on Saturday morning.
For a group flying in, those five minutes mean no hire cars and no working out who drives.
Can we get there and get around without a car?
Yes. We arrange transfers with our own drivers and eight-seater vans. Transfers are charged by the transport provider and the price is given before you book. There’s also a metro stop nearby, with trains every few minutes and about fifteen minutes to the centre.
Is there a private pool? And what is there to do in winter?
The pool is private and outdoors, and is kept clean and open twelve months a year. It isn’t heated. In winter it’s used mostly by guests from northern Europe: if you’re coming from Norway, Finland, the Netherlands or the UK, a sunny ten-degree day in Valencia is a good spring day back home.
And if you’d rather have hot water, there’s the outdoor wood-fired hot tub for eight, which works all year. There are also two wood fireplaces with firewood included, central heating and air conditioning in every room, a cinema room, an eighteenth-century billiard table and a garden pavilion that closes up completely when it rains.
In February Valencia gets around a hundred and seventy hours of sunshine. London gets sixty-five.
Can we hold a birthday or a family gathering?
Yes, and it’s one of the three ways of using the house. If the celebration is only for the people staying, it’s part of the stay and there’s nothing more to pay.
If more people come than are sleeping at the house, that’s fine, arranged in advance, and there’s a supplement covering wear on the house, insurance and cleaning. The terms are set out with no small print on the celebrations page.
The table is laid with linen, candelabra, candles, flowers cut from the garden that morning and, if asked for in advance, the antique Limoges china, and the pavilion has heating and a wood stove so rain doesn’t change the plan.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay celebrating my 30th birthday at Villa Paula. The villa is absolutely stunning, with plenty of space both inside and in the beautiful garden. It was the perfect setting to relax, spend quality time together and create unforgettable memories.
A fantastic experience in a villa that is literally a museum. Every space is looked after down to the detail, with taste and the right balance of old and modern. The garden is immense, perfectly kept and set up with a courtyard for unforgettable dinners and barbecues.
By far the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in. The house is overwhelmingly beautiful. It’s historic without being cold: restored to perfection so you can marvel at its charm and still enjoy it as a home. The pool and gardens are gorgeous and very well kept. They even brought us freshly baked bread every day.
This was by far my best Airbnb experience. The villa is beautiful and matches the photos exactly. We were in Valencia for the marathon: they drove us to the start line very early and waited all day to bring us back. When we returned they had set up a beautiful table in the courtyard and a paella with local wines and cheeses. The next day they surprised us with freshly baked pastries and homemade dulce de leche.
This was a perfect place for a group trip to explore Valencia. The villa is stunning and has every amenity you could need. They treated us like family and even gave us homemade baked goods that were spectacular. Our biggest highlight: the paella experience, beautifully served at the villa.
The house and garden are absolutely stunning; we couldn’t believe we were lucky enough to stay there. There was plenty of room for twelve of us: sitting rooms, films on the big screen, meals around the large table, the pool. They surprised us with homemade jams, fresh pastries and the most delicious pasta and sauce before we left.
And five stars too in the official Generalitat Valenciana classification.
